Published on

Hey there, we hear you’re in the market for a furry friend.

You’ve reached peak house plant parentage. Your WFH companion is the washing machine you’ve affectionately named ‘Noisy Bob’.

Sound like you? You might be ready to become a pup parent!

Read on for the top 3 things to know before getting a dog…

  1. 1. A dog is for life (not just the howlidays)

We know adulting is hard – days can be…ruff, so make sure you are truly ready for the extra responsibilities, commitment and cost that comes with owning a dog. The average dog lives to be 12 years old and will need your devotion from puppy stage to senior doggo.

  1. 2. Paws for thought

Live in the city or out in the ‘burbs with lots of space to roam? Have kids or flying solo? Keen on the great outdoors or more of a sofa loafer? Before choosing your dog, it’s important to know what dog breed fits your lifestyle, so they can live their best life, too. Do plenty of research before committing - and always choose a reputable dog breeder.

  1. 3. Pugs and kisses

You’ll need to heap on care and attention to keep your puppy happy. Housetraining may take months of dedication, while you’ll also need to socialise your pup, and keep up with vet visits. Finally, don’t forget to bond and play! Just don’t expect them to join in with the family monopoly.

You’ve got this!
